Are you looking for an easy fall craft to do with your toddler? This fall leaves sponge painting activity is fun, easy and has beautiful results, worth framing as part of your Thanksgiving display.
Fall Leaves Toddler Sponge Painting
This painting activity kept my toddler busy and entertained for a good solid half hour or more. We made paintings for all the grandparents just in time for thanksgiving.
This craft only takes a few materials, and doesn’t require any prep work of cutting or gluing for the final product other than matting and framing.
Supplies needed.
Tempera Paint, Red, Yellow, Brown and White
Round Sponge brushes in a variety of sizes
Directions:
I gave my toddler a container with paint and the brushes. He instantly started squishing the sponge into the paper. The array of mixed warm colours was beautiful. The final product was really impressive. The colours are stunning together and really give a sense of fall and the turning of the leaves.
Presentation:
This toddler art is worth framing. A rustic fall frame with a splash of gold really finishes it off well and adds a special touch.
This frame would work well for this craft.
Sponge Painting also serves as a nice backdrop for other fall craft activities like turkey handprints or fall shapes like leaves or turkeys cut out of construction paper.
I had ours stand alone. We gave the other 10 to family members at Thanksgiving. Nothing is sweeter than a toddler handing a grandparent a handmade piece of art.
