There are 10 farm book we must read daily on the homestead. We make time for couch cuddles and story time and these are the kid approved choices every time.

Top 10 Farm Books Ages 0+: Kid Approved farm board books. Great for babies and preschoolers learning about farm animals, sounds and live on the farm.

Read homestead books like Ma & Pa

It is said, children become readers on the laps of their parents. Our little ones watch and mimic our behaviour all the time, often pretending to read a book from our homestead must have library.

Here are the books that we love to read with them. Farm books that light the little homestead spark inside them. Note all of these books are available in board book print, perfect for little hands to turn the pages and take a nibble or too… Or is it just mine that eat books when teething?

Our Top 10 Favourite Farm Books Ages 0+

And here it is, our family’s favourite farm books ages 0 and up!

My Awesome Farm Book

The title says it all, match the animals with their mamas, their homes and their sounds. A good pop quiz for the farm kid in training!

Little Blue Truck

This is one of my very favourites! We had everyone at my sons first birthday sign a copy for him so it’s extra special! They also have a link at the back of the book for party planning ideas for your own little blue truck birthday party! Theres also, Little Blue Truck Leads the Way, Little Blue Truck’s Christmas ( was a great stocking stuffer this year) , Little Blue Truck’s Springtime (for the easter basket!) and Good Night Little Blue Truck.

Big Red Barn

By the big red barn in the great green field there was a little pink pig that was learning to squeal.. This is my ultimate favourite, it’s my son’s very first book, a gift from the hospital. I have this book memorized by heart, it’s a perfect evening lullaby to bed.

Moo Baa La La La

Sandra Bouton is too funny! Our little guy actually sings LALALALA when you ask him what a pig says. One day he’ll learn, but who knows maybe one day he’ll teach the pigs to sing for real.

That’s Not My… Set

The touchy feely books are a huge hit in our house. These Usbourne books are lovely touchy feely farm books for little hands.

Touch Slide and Lift Busy Farm

Another touchy feely fun farm book, but this one steps it up with the lift the flaps. Introduce your little one to colours, shapes, animal sounds and more with this fun busy farm book.

Psst I love you

Another mom and baby sweet story to pull at your heart strings. What do animals tell their babies morning, noon and every day? I’ve got a secret… psst… I love you!

Farmyard Tales Collection

Mrs. Boot and her family from Apple Tree Farm share simple farm stories in this anthology set. We are currently enjoying the peak a boo find the duck on every page portion of the book.

Little Bo Peep

The “ba” book! A fun illustrated version of the classic poem.

Milly’s Chickens

This is my favourite of all the Barefoot Books farm stories. Have you heard of this publisher? They are the best! Most of the books and toys we have on the shelves are Barefoot Books, they are a company I can stand behind- oh and I get a great deal as an Ambassador!

What are some of the favourite farm stories in your family? Comment below! I’m always on the lookout for new books for the boys. Keeping this list to 10 was very tricky! It’s only a portion of our growing collection. I will always be a book hoarder at heart, along with chickens…
