I am so happy to share the Charity Cozy Fall Makealong organized by Noor’s Knits and Knitting With Chopsticks!
Both Noorain and Hortense have personal stories and have had loved ones affected by childhood cancer and they have organized this event as a means to give back where it’s most needed. A portion of proceeds from this event will be donated to Cure Childhood Cancer.
I’m one of over 30 designers taking part in this MAL, starting on October 4th, 2021 and ending on October 29th, 2021. Every weekday a new 8 x 8 in.
Fall-themed FREE knit AND crochet square by a different designer will be shared. Completed squares and blankets can be donated to a charity from the list provided.
INTRODUCING The Simple Seeds of Love Blanket Afghan Square
The Simple Seeds of Love Square Square is a beginner friendly blanket square knitting pattern that features a simple garter stitch edge with a seed stitch centre.
This 8″ square knits up quick and easy in worsted weight yarn. Perfect for beginners and set amongst other squares to complete an afghan made with love.
To create the seed stitch, Knit 1, Purl 1 for every row making sure to always stop and end on a knit stitch.
You’ll be purling the knit stitch and knitting the purl stitch.
This is a great beginner project for a new knitter learning how to recognize a knit and purl stitch in their fabric to create a beautiful final project.
For this pattern, you’ll need to know how to cast on and off as well as how to knit and purl.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
CIRCULAR NEEDLES SIZE 7 ( 4.5 mm)
Yarn Weight:Medium 4 Aran Yardage: 1/2 a Skien
Suggested Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease (80% Acrylic 20% Wool Blend) in RAINDROPS
Needle Size: US 8 straight needles & Scissors
KNITTED SEED STITCH AFGHAN SQUARE PATTERN:
* – * – repeat pattern
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
P – purl stitches {P1 means to purl 1 stitch}
STS – stitches
HOW TO KNIT YOUR AFGHAN SQUARE INSTRUCTION STEPS
STEP ONE: CO 40 STS
STEP TWO: Rows 1-5: Knit
STEP THREE: *K1, P1* {Seed Stitch}
{knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches}
STEP FOUR: Work in Seed Stitch until 5 rows shy of a square.
TIP (Fold in half to check square)
Knit last five rows
Leave enough yarn to bind
off and sew seam.BO in pattern.
