Shopping online is becoming easier, safer and makes life simpler in many ways. I’ve started shopping more online now that I have two young boys at home, and we live out in the country so going to the mall or big department stores just doesn’t happen anymore.
Here are some tips I’ve discovered that can help you save money when you shop online. Make the most of Black Friday Deals with these helpful online money saving tips.
ONLINE MONEY SAVING TIPS
1. USE A COUPON MATCH EXTENSION
Install Honey on your desktop, a google extension that will automatically look for the best deal once you’ve reached check out. Honey has a few awesome features.
My favourite feature is the savings finder, the original and most popular tool for automatically finding and applying coupon codes for 40,000 popular sites with just one click.
Amazon Best Price- They compare every seller to show you the lowest price (even if Amazon doesn’t). Plus, lots of our tools work together to make Amazon even better.
Honey Gold- get rewards to redeem for gift cards
Drop List- watches items for you and notifies you when there is a price drop!
2. USE SWAGBUCKS FOR CASH BACK
Use Swagbucks for cash back in the form of gift cards when you shop online through their site. Simply create an account to earn points towards free gift cards. You earn points like you do with cash back programs to use for gift cards.
I prefer Swagbucks during Black Friday because I earn cash back for gift cards to give as gifts during the holidays- or spend on holiday gifts.
Check out the gift cards currently on sale- an added bonus because you can get them for less than what they are worth. It’s easy to earn when you shop through their marketplace links.
To get cashback to make sure you go to Swagbucks FIRST then click the store you want to buy from. That way your purchases and cashback will be tracked.
My tip for you in preparation for Black Friday is to start becoming familiar with swagbucks. Take time to complete the daily goal on the left side bar to earn bonuses. There are also a number of other ways to earn swagbucks other than shopping online like discovering websites, playing games, completing surveys and sharing with friends.
I was able to earn a $50 gift certificate for 5 minutes a day during the fall to use as extra cash for holiday spending.
Go ahead and add the swag button to your laptop or desktop so you don’t forget to use it when your shopping!
When shopping online cross check the cash back percentage being offered at Swagbucks and Rakuten to get the best deal.
3. GET INSIDER INFORMATION
Create an online shopping email to sign up for the website’s email list. You can usually get a code to save a percentage on your first purchase and will receive the latest sales, discounts and offers in your inbox. I use my email check out annual trends with a company I like to shop with by searching the emails from the same time last year.
4. USE RAKUTEN FOR CASH BACK
Use RAKETAN formerly Ebates for cash back. You’ll earn cash back on your online AND in-store purchases. Plus, new members get a free $10 gift card after their first purchase of $25 or more through Rakuten.
Its very easy to use, Rakuten will send you exclusive coupon codes on your favorite stores. To get cashback to make sure you go to Rakuten FIRST than click the store you want to buy from. That way your purchases and cashback will be tracked.
Sign up for their email to be notified when they have bonus cash back. I love using Rakuten, because they send a check in the mail 4x a year with your cash back. I never remember this until I walk to the mailbox and find an unexpected cheque. Yippee!!
I’ve been using Rakuten for years and highly recommend it!
5. REDEEM LOYALTY POINTS DURING Black Friday BONUS OFFERS
I often spend my PC Insider Points only during bonus redemption time and will get a minimum of $65 worth of free Joe Fresh clothing for the kids for only a $50 point value, $65 of clothes on clearance for free is usually a season of clothes for the boys.
Sign up for PC Insiders and get 25% off an annual subscription! Insiders score extra PC Optimum points, skip fees on PC Express, and much more. Use my referral code to sign up: DB1669
6. DOUBLE AND TRIPLE DIP ON DEALS
Shop sales and double+ dip on deals by only shop sales online and look for deals off everything ie. “40% off everything sitewide”.
Then shop the clearance section for additional discounts.
PLUS don’t forget to make sure you’ve gone through Swagbucks or Ebates first for cash back.
Pay with a cash back or points credit card.
I have a very hard time shopping in stores for our clothing now, once I have an idea of our sizes we’re good to go.
How I get new free clothes for my kids during Black Friday.
My favourite is using redeeming my PC points for free clothes for the kids. I save 20% as a PC Insider along with the black friday deals, I go through Rakuten for cash back bonuses, then I shop the clearance section for end of season clothing to put away for next year. I redeem my points and get cash back through Rakuten and points on my credit card plus my kids get free clothes! It’s pretty awesome!
7. AMAZON Black Friday
Take advantage of Amazon Prime during Black Friday to save on shipping costs as well. Even if you just sign up for the 30 day trial during the busy shopping season you’ll save on shipping and your membership.
You get two day shipping and one day shipping on select items now. You’ll get access to lightening deals 30 minutes before everyone else.
Have fun and enjoy the savings! Post below any other tips you might have, I’d love to hear them!
